Еcopoints in Voronezh and Kursk leased by Europlan

Europlan leased recyclable waste collection ecopoints to the Seventh Petal project in Voronezh and the operator of municipal waste management JSC Specialized Automobile Base for Kursk City Cleaning.

Updated Russian legislation on waste management* mandates the reduction of regional landfills load by curtailing waste volumes and using recyclable materials. Ecopoint installation is an important step towards realizing this goal.

Ecopoints are special facilities that allow city dwellers to quickly turn in recyclables and receive a monetary reward for doing so. They are comprised of two parts: a room for receiving recyclables and a warehouse. About 20 types of recyclables are accepted: waste paper, plastic, glass, metal, bags, household appliances, etc. Ecopoints are autonomous, electrified, and capable of working at temperatures from −25°C to +40°C. They are also mobile: it is easy to transport them to a place where they will be most accessible to city dwellers.

The LLC Seventh Petal investment project performs the task of collecting recyclable materials in Voronezh and subsequently transferring them to recycling facilities.

The JSC Specialized Automobile Base for Kursk City Cleaning acquired two ecopoints as part of the transition from landfilling to sorting and recycling. Future plans include building a waste-sorting facility and putting into operation a solid municipal waste recycling plant. At the present moment, the company keeps 2,724 waste sites and more than 6,023 containers for solid waste collection.

“We needed help with developing our environmental project. Not all credit and leasing organizations, however, are willing to finance such products. To do this, you have to believe in our project, in the benefits it brings to society. Europlan has set a precedent by leasing us a mobile ecopoint. Now Voronezh has eight recyclables collection points. According to our calculations, our ecopoints have already accepted 350 tons of recyclable materials, significantly reducing the load on landfills and, consequently, on the environment,” said Armen Melikyan, general director of the LLC Seventh Petal.
